Privacy Policy

Introduction

Unplay ("we", "our", or "the extension") is a Chrome extension designed to run entirely on your own device. This Privacy Policy explains how it handles your information.

Our Privacy Promise

Unplay is built on a foundation of privacy. We:

  • Do not collect any personal information
  • Do not transmit any data to external servers
  • Do not use analytics or tracking services
  • Do not sell or share your data with third parties
  • Do not require an account or login

Data Storage

Everything Unplay saves is stored locally in your browser using Chrome's extension storage, and never leaves your device:

  • Your blocked videos, channels, and keywords.
  • A salted PBKDF2 hash of your PIN (the PIN itself is never stored).
  • Your optional PIN hint, if set.

Permissions

Unplay requests the following permissions to function:

Host permission (youtube.com)

Runs a content script on YouTube to detect blocked videos/channels/keywords and show a notice. It only touches youtube.com and never reads or transmits page content.

storage

Stores the block lists, a hashed PIN and salt, and an optional hint — all locally.

Third-Party Services & Remote Code

Unplay makes no network requests. All code, styles, and fonts are bundled inside the extension. There are no third-party services, SDKs, trackers, or advertising networks.

Data Retention and Deletion

All data is local. You can clear it from the extension at any time, and removing the extension permanently deletes everything it stored. We have no ability to access or recover your data.

Changes to This Policy

If we make changes to this privacy policy, we will update this page and the "Last Updated" date above.
