What these cover
These terms apply to the Parentech Chrome extension, the parent console at parentech.app, and this website. Installing the extension or signing in to the console means you agree to them. If you do not, do not use Parentech.
Who can use it
Parentech is for a parent or guardian setting boundaries on a computer their child uses. You must be an adult to create an account and to subscribe. Do not use it to monitor an adult without their knowledge and agreement.
Your account
You sign in with a Google account. You are responsible for that account and for the parent PIN on each computer. Anyone with your PIN can change rules on that computer; anyone signed in to your Google account can change them from anywhere. Keep both to yourself.
The free plan and the trial
Every account gets 7 days with everything included, on every computer, with no card. The trial is tied to your Google account, not to a computer, so it runs once.
After that, Parentech stays free on one computer: the first one set up on the account. Every rule, class sessions, screen time and the PIN keep working there, and are changed there. Any other computer keeps the rules it already has but cannot change them or start a class until the family plan is on. We may change what the free plan includes; if we narrow it, the date at the top of this page changes and we say so on the site first.
The family plan
The family plan is one subscription for the whole household: every computer, any number of children, its own set of rules per computer, and control from the parent console on your phone. Two ways to pay:
- Monthly: $4.99 a month.
- Yearly: $39.99 a year, billed once.
Prices are in US dollars and exclude any tax your country adds at checkout. Both plans renew automatically until you cancel. Payment goes through Stripe; we never see your card.
Cancelling and refunds
Cancel any time from Account & billing → Manage billing. That is Stripe's billing page, with no call and no retention flow. Cancelling stops the next charge; the time you have already paid for runs to the end of the period.
If a charge was a mistake, tell us within 14 days of that charge and we will refund it in full. Beyond that, we do not refund partial periods. If we change a price, the new price applies from your next renewal, and we will tell you before it does.
What stops when a plan lapses
Nothing on the first computer: it is on the free plan, in full. On every other computer the rules already set keep running, the block pages keep blocking, and a running class finishes; what stops there is changing rules and starting classes. Sync and control from the parent console pause until the plan is active again.
What we promise, and what we do not
We work to make Parentech correct and we fix what we find. We cannot promise that a blocker will catch every case, that a timer will never miss a second, or that a Chrome update will not change how something behaves. Parentech is provided as it is, without warranty of any kind.
A browser extension is a boundary on one browser, on one computer. A determined child can use a different browser, a different profile, a phone, or a computer without the extension. Parentech is help for a parent, not a substitute for one. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for anything that follows from a rule not being applied, and our total liability to you is limited to what you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.
Your data
What we hold, and what never leaves the child's computer, is set out in the Privacy Policy. In short: your rules and class reports sync through your account; browsing history, search terms, screen time and the PIN do not. You can delete your account, and everything in it, from Account & billing at any time.
Acceptable use
Do not use Parentech to monitor an adult without their agreement, to interfere with a computer you do not own or manage, or to try to break into another family's account. We may close an account used that way.
Ending the service
You can stop any time by deleting your account. We may suspend an account that breaks these terms. If we ever shut Parentech down, we will give at least 30 days' notice and refund any unused part of a yearly plan.
Changes
If these terms change, the date at the top of this page changes with them, and we will say so on the site. Continuing to use Parentech after that means the new terms apply.
