Data Storage

All data generated by Hart Steps is stored locally on your device using:

  • iOS: NSUserDefaults and local device storage
  • Android: SharedPreferences and local device storage

Your step counts, goals, profile information, and statistics never leave your device.

Permissions

Hart Steps requires the following permissions to function:

iOS - Motion & Fitness

Required to access your device's pedometer to count steps. This data is read directly from your device sensors and is never transmitted anywhere.

iOS - Apple Health (Optional)

If you choose to enable Health integration, the app can read and write step data to Apple Health. This is entirely optional and under your control.

Android - Activity Recognition

Required to access your device's step counter sensor. This permission only allows the app to read step data from your device's hardware sensors.

Third-Party Services

Hart Steps does not use any third-party services, SDKs, or analytics tools. There are no trackers, no crash reporting services, and no advertising networks integrated into the app.

Data Retention and Deletion

Since all data is stored locally on your device:

  • You can delete all app data at any time through the app's settings
  • Uninstalling the app will permanently delete all stored data
  • We have no ability to access or recover your data once deleted

Changes to Privacy Policy

If we make changes to this privacy policy, we will update this page and the "Last Updated" date above. Since the app doesn't have update notifications, we recommend reviewing this policy periodically.
